Learn step-by-step how to install a RAM Tele-Pole VESA monitor mount in your truck. Get the right height and secure your display with this adjustable pole mount.
Quick answer
To install a RAM Tele-Pole VESA monitor mount, attach the lower female Tele-Pole to your vehicle base, slide the upper male pole in, adjust the height with the knob, and secure your monitor to the VESA plate.
What You Need Before Starting
The RAM-VP-SW2-89-2461 includes a 9" lower female Tele-Pole, an 8" upper male Tele-Pole, a single swing arm, and a 3.625" square VESA base. You will also need a compatible RAM vehicle base that does not have a welded female Tele-Pole—the lower pole attaches directly to those bases. Have a Phillips screwdriver and a 10mm socket or wrench handy for tightening bolts.
Choosing the Right Mounting Location
Pick a spot on your vehicle's floor, console, or seat base where the pole will not interfere with pedals, gear shift, or legroom. The Tele-Pole system gives you up to 17" of total height adjustment, so measure the clearance from your chosen base to your desired eye level. A common mistake is mounting too close to the dashboard, which can limit the swing arm's range of motion.
Installation Steps
- Attach the Lower Female Tele-Pole to the Vehicle Base: Align the base of the 9" lower female Tele-Pole with your vehicle's existing RAM mount base (one that does not have a welded female Tele-Pole). Insert the bolts and tighten them securely with a 10mm socket or wrench. Check that the pole is straight and does not wobble. Common mistake: over-tightening can strip the base threads. Tighten until snug, then stop.
- Slide the Upper Male Tele-Pole into the Lower Pole: Insert the 8" upper male Tele-Pole into the top of the lower female pole. The poles are keyed to prevent rotation. Push them together until they meet, but do not force them if they resist—check alignment. If the poles do not slide smoothly, wipe the mating surfaces clean of debris. Do not lubricate; the friction fit is intentional.
- Adjust the Height Using the Knob: Turn the knob at the top of the upper pole counterclockwise to loosen the locking mechanism. Raise or lower the upper pole to your desired monitor height. Once set, turn the knob clockwise to lock it. The combined poles offer up to 17" of adjustment. Always lock the knob firmly before mounting the monitor. A loose knob can cause the display to drop suddenly.
- Attach the Swing Arm to the Upper Pole: Slide the swing arm's clamp over the upper pole and tighten the clamp bolt with a Phillips screwdriver. Position the arm so it points toward your driving position. The arm pivots, so you can adjust the angle later. Do not fully tighten the clamp bolt yet—leave it slightly loose so you can rotate the arm during final positioning.
- Mount the VESA Plate and Monitor: The 3.625" square base has a 75x75mm VESA hole pattern. Align your monitor's VESA holes with the plate, insert the four screws (usually M4, included with your monitor), and tighten them evenly. Then attach the VESA plate to the swing arm's ball joint and tighten the socket. Use a screwdriver, not a power drill, to avoid over-tightening and cracking the monitor's VESA mount.
- Final Positioning and Lockdown: Sit in your driving position and adjust the swing arm angle, monitor tilt, and height. Tighten the swing arm clamp bolt, the ball joint socket, and the height knob. Give the mount a gentle shake to confirm everything is secure. Check all fasteners after the first 100 miles of driving—vibration can loosen them. Re-tighten if needed.
