The 4-inch post gives plenty of clearance off the boat rail, and the bulkhead base feels rock-solid when I torque a big fish sideways. Set it up right-handed on my kayak and it held my spinning rod snug through some rough chop.

The 4-inch post is the perfect height for keeping my rod secure while trolling, and the base mounted flat on my deck without any wobble. I was worried about left-handed use, but the design works just as smoothly for my spinning reel setup.

Mounts solid on my boat's flat deck, and the 4-inch post clears the gunnel just right for my spinning rod. Swivels smoothly to either side, though tightening the base takes a bit more muscle than I'd like. Works well for the price.
