Compare RAM pedestal VESA mounts with 75x75 and 100x100 plates. Learn which pattern fits your monitor and when a double ball arm makes sense.
Quick answer
Choose the 75x75 plate if your monitor only has a 75x75 hole pattern; choose the 100x100 plate if it has a 100x100 pattern or you want the flexibility of 100x50 and 75x75 compatibility. The 100x100 model also gives you a longer 18-inch pipe, while the 75x75 model uses a 9-inch pipe and a medium double socket arm.
Why the VESA pattern decides the mount
VESA patterns are the four-hole square or rectangular layouts on the back of a monitor. The 75x75 plate fits only 75x75 monitors. The 100x100 plate fits 100x100, 100x50 Half VESA, and 75x75 patterns, so it covers more monitors but is physically larger.
Measure your monitor’s hole spacing before ordering. A 100x100 plate cannot be forced onto a 75x75-only monitor without an adapter, and the 75x75 plate will not fit a 100x100 monitor at all.
Pipe length and arm design change the reach
The 100x100 model uses an 18-inch aluminum pipe, while the 75x75 model uses a 9-inch pipe with a medium-length C size double socket arm. The longer pipe raises the mounting point and may suit higher placement; the shorter pipe with the double ball arm offers articulation closer to the base.
A double ball VESA mount lets you adjust tilt and angle after installation. The 75x75 model includes that arm; the 100x100 model’s C size arm is rated to hold 4 pounds, so check your monitor weight against that limit.
Base and mounting method are the same
Both mounts use a drill-down pedestal base, so you will need a surface you can drill into. Neither includes a clamp or track base. If you cannot drill, these pedestal mounts are not the right choice.
The trade-off is stability versus portability: a drilled base is secure but permanent. Plan the location carefully before drilling.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Pattern coverage: The 100x100 plate fits 100x100, 100x50, and 75x75 monitors. The 75x75 plate fits only 75x75 monitors. If you may swap monitors later, the 100x100 plate is the more flexible choice.
- Reach and height: The 18-inch pipe on the 100x100 model raises the monitor higher than the 9-inch pipe on the 75x75 model. Measure your desired screen height before choosing; a longer pipe cannot be shortened.
- Adjustability: The 75x75 model includes a medium double socket arm for articulation. The 100x100 model relies on its C size arm, rated to hold 4 pounds. Confirm your monitor weight and whether you need frequent angle changes.
Product facts
- RAM® Pedestal Mount with 18" Pipe and 100x100mm VESA Plate: Includes an 18-inch aluminum pipe and a 100x100mm VESA plate compatible with 100x100, 100x50 Half VESA, and 75x75 patterns. This mount covers more monitor hole patterns and gives you extra height, but the larger plate may extend beyond smaller monitor backs.
RAM® Pedestal Mount with 18" Pipe and 100x100mm VESA Plate - RAM® Pedestal Mount with 9" Pipe and 75x75mm VESA Plate: Includes a 9-inch aluminum pipe, a medium-length C size double socket arm, and a 75x75mm VESA plate. The shorter pipe and double ball arm provide a more compact, adjustable setup for monitors with a 75x75 pattern.
RAM® Pedestal Mount with 9" Pipe and 75x75mm VESA Plate
Which RAM pedestal mount fits your setup?
Best for
- Monitors with a 75x75 VESA pattern that need a compact, adjustable mount
- Installations where a shorter 9-inch pipe suits the mounting surface
Not for
- Monitors with only a 100x100 VESA pattern
- Setups that cannot be drilled into a solid surface
- Monitors heavier than the arm’s rated capacity
