RAM Level Cup Bases: Track, Rail or Reservoir Fit

Match a RAM Level Cup drink holder to your vehicle: track ball, Torque rail, brake/clutch reservoir or 5-Spot base, plus when the 16oz or 32oz cup size makes sense.

Quick answer

Choose the base by what you can safely clamp to, not by cup size first: a Track Ball base for an existing RAM track, a Torque rail base for 3/4-inch to 1-inch handlebars or rails, and a brake/clutch reservoir base only when the reservoir or rail measures 0.5 to 1.25 inches and can take the load. Then pick the 16oz Level Cup for everyday cups and the 32oz XL when you carry large insulated bottles.

The base decides the mount; the cup size comes second

All four Level Cup kits share the same self-leveling cup holder idea, but the mounting hardware is what separates them. A Track Ball base needs a track system already installed or added to the vehicle. A Torque rail base wraps a round bar. A brake/clutch reservoir base bolts to a specific clamp area. The 5-Spot adapter is a base plate for RAM mounting patterns rather than a vehicle-specific clamp.

That order matters because a cup holder that fits your cup but not your dash is still the wrong purchase. Measure the attachment point first, then choose the cup capacity that matches your typical drink.

Track Ball vs Torque rail: different surfaces, different trade-offs

A Track Ball base is the more flexible choice when you already run a RAM Tough-Track or similar track, because the mount can slide along the track and be repositioned without new hardware. The trade-off is that the track itself must be installed and rated for the load; the cup holder kit does not create the track.

A Torque rail base is the simpler path on a bare handlebar or rail in the 3/4-inch to 1-inch range. It clamps directly to the bar, so there is no track to add, but placement is fixed to that bar and you need enough clear round length for the clamp. On a truck cab with no track and no exposed round bar, neither may be the right answer.

Reservoir mounting is a fit-first, load-second decision

The brake/clutch reservoir base is designed for reservoirs and rails from 0.5 to 1.25 inches in diameter. That range covers many motorcycle and powersports setups, but it is not a universal dash mount. The reservoir must be structurally suitable for an added arm and a filled cup, and the hardware supplied is specific to that clamp style.

If your vehicle has a plastic trim panel or a rounded dashboard with no reservoir or rail, do not force a reservoir base to work. A track-based or 5-Spot adapter approach is more honest about what the surface can support.

16oz vs 32oz: match the cup, then check clearance

The 16oz Level Cup is the everyday size for coffee cups, soda cups and smaller bottles. The 32oz XL opens wider for big insulated tumblers and steel bottles. The larger holder also takes more space and puts more weight on the arm, so check that the mounting point and nearby controls stay clear before committing.

If you regularly switch between a small coffee cup and a large water bottle, the XL is the more forgiving single choice, but it will feel oversized with a small cup. If your drinks are consistently 16oz or less, the smaller holder is easier to place.

Decision rules for choosing a Level Cup base

  • If you already have a RAM track: Choose the Track Ball base and confirm the track is secure and long enough for the arm and cup position you want. No track means this base is not a standalone solution.
  • If you have a bare round bar: Measure the bar diameter. Choose the Torque rail base only if it falls between 3/4 inch and 1 inch and there is clear clamp length. A bar outside that range needs a different base, not an adapter guess.
  • If you are mounting at a brake or clutch reservoir: Measure the reservoir or rail diameter and confirm it is within 0.5 to 1.25 inches. Check that the reservoir can take an added arm and filled cup before installing. Reservoir mounting is vehicle-specific; do not treat it as a universal dash mount.
  • If you have a RAM mounting pattern but no bar or track: Use the 5-Spot base adapter kit as the attachment plate, then verify the arm and cup clearance around controls and trim. The 5-Spot adapter solves the attachment pattern, not the vehicle surface.
  • If your drink size varies: Pick the 32oz XL for large insulated bottles and the 16oz for everyday cups. Do not size up unless you have room for the wider holder and the extra weight on the arm. Cup capacity is a clearance decision as much as a drink-size decision.

  • RAM® Level Cup™ 16oz Drink Holder with Brake/Clutch Reservoir Base: The Level Cup 16oz reservoir kit includes hardware for brake/clutch reservoirs and rails from 0.5 to 1.25 inches in diameter, plus a short double socket arm. It fits a defined clamp range, so measure the reservoir or rail before ordering rather than assuming a dashboard fit.

  • RAM® Level Cup™ 16oz Drink Holder with RAM® Torque™ Medium Rail Base: The Level Cup 16oz Torque rail kit pairs a B-size 1-inch ball base for bars 3/4 to 1 inch in diameter with a short arm and the Level Cup holder and koozie. This is the direct clamp option for a bare handlebar or rail in that size range, with no track required.
  • RAM® Level Cup™ 16oz Drink Holder with 5-Spot Base Adapter: The Level Cup 16oz 5-Spot base adapter kit uses a RAM Pin-Lock adapter and a 5-Spot base plate with a medium arm and B-size 1-inch ball. It suits builds where you already have a RAM mounting pattern to attach to, rather than a round bar or reservoir.

Who each base suits

Best for

  • Drivers and riders who already have a RAM track and want a repositionable large-cup holder
  • Motorcycle or powersports owners with a brake/clutch reservoir or rail in the 0.5 to 1.25 inch range
  • Handlebar or rail setups measuring 3/4 to 1 inch where a direct clamp is simpler than adding a track
  • Builders with an existing RAM mounting pattern who need a 16oz cup holder plate

Not for

  • Vehicles with only plastic dashboard trim and no track, bar, reservoir or mounting pattern
  • Reservoirs or rails outside the stated diameter ranges
  • Anyone who has not measured the attachment point and checked clearance for the arm and cup
